Weekly Photo Challenge: Half and Half

Picture of Chimney Rock at Ghost Ranch

Countless landmarks bear the name Chimney Rock, but this particular formation can be found at artist Georgia O’Keeffe’s Ghost Ranch in New Mexico. This week’s photo challenge calls for the use of a photo with two clear literal or figurative halves in any direction. This photo attests to the famous quality of light in the Sante Fe area. Even beneath those dark rolling clouds, the sun found a way to cast rays on the desert rock. Within fifteen minutes on a May afternoon, I experienced almost every type of weather except snow. I will forever be in love with the stark honesty of desert landscapes and the precarious balance required for survival.

  1. Jeri, this is so beautiful. We were just in New Mexico in April, but missed this amazing formation. Did you happen to see Tent Rocks? I was pretty blown away by them.

  2. Santa Fe has been on my list of places to go. There’s something about clouds that really enhances a picture.
