Weekly Photo Challenge: Between

Picture of Arthur Ravenel Jr. Suspension Bridge in Charleston

To capture something in the middle of two things is the basis for this week’s photo challenge. I’m keeping it on the literal level this week with a picture of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge in Charleston, South Carolina. I was in town for my second visit to the city. Hurricane Sandy was making her way up the coast on its way to the terrible devastation she would bring to New York and New Jersey. I braved some strong winds to walk out on Charleston’s Waterfront Park Pier. The photos I captured made the trip well worth it, but I hope Sandy is the first and only hurricane I will experience now that I am living in the North again.

  1. This is absolutely stunning Jeri! And I am lucky to see this from my balcony every single day:) I view it from downtown Charleston where I live, but the sight of it never grows old. You should come back… then we can meet:)

  2. What an absolutely gorgeous photo, Jeri! That is so intense that you took right as Sandy was about to unleash her fury. The Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge is a beautiful piece of architecture to top it all off. Kind of a sentinel against the storm 🙂

  3. The bridge is amazing but I think the fact that it lies between such a beautiful sky and dark churning waters is also illustrative of ‘between’. 5 stars and thanks for sharing 🙂

  4. There is so much to like about this, it seems unfair to single anything out but the slightly upward angle conveys optimism in the face of a threatening environment so for me that is the most powerful element
